I have a confession to make ... I am a Twihard. This term is generally applied to 14-year-old girls, and that is pretty much what I feel like right now!! Brooke and I went to see the Twilight movie when it came out, having not a clue what the books were about. We loved the movie so much that we went straight to the store and bought the first book. I finished it in 48 hours. Then, we both went to see the movie again, and loved it even more the second time. I blew through the three remaining books in the series over Christmas, and am halfway through reading them for the second time. Pretty crazy, since they total 2,000 pages together. But, I sped-read through them so fast the first time, that I'm taking it slower this second run through and enjoying them even more. Only my favorite of all favorite books have I read twice, and these are up at the top of the list. I also saw the movie for a third time ... never done that before.
For those of you immune to the Twilight world to date - it is a story about a teenage vampire, Edward Cullen (swoon!), who is a vegetarian and only feeds on animals, and he falls in love with one of his classmates, Bella Swan. Like Romeo and Juliet, they are star-crossed lovers due to the fact that she smells sweeter to Edward than any other human and he has to fight to not kill her all the time. But, everyone can connect to the classic teen angst feelings these books bring forth, and they will take you back to your younger years with a smile.
Stephenie Meyer, the author of the series, is a stay at home mom who had a dream one night and sat down and wrote the first Twilight book based on it. She was more surprised at all the success than anyone, but she has such a knack as a storyteller that you just can't put her books down. The movie really brought the characters to life, and while not as good as the books, is a must see.
If I have piqued your interest at all, pick up the paperback of Twilight and tell me you don't fall in love and get hooked.
To top off my obsession, I have scoured the internet for interviews, articles, pictures, etc. relating to the movie (see why I tell you I feel 14 again ....). Once y'all get hooked, check out these following sites:
