Poor Ruger ...

Sunday night, poor Ruger had a run-in with a copperhead at our house. We got home late from Baton Rouge, and while Mike was feeding horses he heard a yelp. We didn't think anything about it until Ruger came in the house and his nose was all swollen. Mike found two little bite marks and called the vet. They said to give him Benadryl and not to worry unless he had trouble breathing. His nose, cheeks, and neck continued to swell until he looked like a Puffalump!! He's doing much better today, but now I'm constantly on the lookout for this offending snake. The vet also warned us that copperheads travel in pairs ... great.

Seems like dogs take snake bites much better than humans. Be careful around there!

Oh my gosh! That was the same weekend I was there house-sitting for you guys!!! I have a serious phobia of snakes. Copperheads are so nasty too! Glad Rugger is okay.
