Sarah and her high school buddy, Karin, headed to Cancun for a four-day weekend getaway. Karin planned this trip with her mom, to "celebrate" the fact we are turning 30 on our next birthdays. So, the trip was deemed the "Dirty Thirty." We flew into Cancun on Friday, Aug. 22nd and headed to our all-inclusive resort, Cancun Palace. We got a great room with an ocean and pool view. We had dinner Friday at the resort's Mexican restaurant, where I branched out and tried Chicken Mole and liked it!
Saturday, we had room service breakfast then headed across the street to do our Jungle Tour. We got to drive little two-seater speed boats around Cancun and out to a snorkeling spot (pictures from underwater camera coming soon). We had a blast doing that, then came back and hung out at the pool and drank mojitos. Saturday night, we watched a fire and drum show by the pool then had a great dinner at the resorts Italian restaurant. We even got tableside bananas foster for dessert!
Sunday, we hit the pool for a few hours, then caught the bus over to Wet N Wild. We had signed up for the Interactive Dolphin Adventure, and had the most amazing experience. Swimming with dolphins was on my "bucket list" of things to do before I died. Well, Karin, myself, and another couple had four dolphins all to ourselves. We were down on a platform in their pool in water up to about our mid-section. It was the maternity pool, so there were two mama dolphins and two baby dolphins - a 1-year-old named Flex and and 1 1/2-year-old named Diego. The four of us took turns petting the dolphins on their top and undersides. We got to interact with them and do tricks and feed them. Little Flex, the youngest dolphin, was a little ADD and didn't want to pay attention as much. He would come over and hover by us and watch us, then swim off do his own thing. Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to take our own camera in, as the staff took pictures to sell to you. Karin and I both bought the ones of us getting kissed on the cheek by the dolphin. We also got to kiss them on the lips, shake their flippers, command them to talk, dance, splash us, and go turn flips. It was absolutely the best and most amazing experience. The four of us felt like little kids giggling all over. After the dolphins, we hit up the other rides at Wet N Wild, getting quite sunburned in the process.
Sunday night, we made reservations for dinner at a great restaurant called Harry's Steakhouse that we had spotted across from the hotel. We had a wonderful dinner, sitting on the deck watching the sunset. The food and wine were fabulous, and they even served us cotton candy for dessert (which promptly melted in the heat and humidity!).
Monday, we got in a few hours at the pool before hitting the gift shop and heading to the airport. Good thing they told us to leave 3 hours earlier than our flight, as the computers were down at the airport and the lines were very long. I barely made my flight back to Houston, but Karin had an hour to shop around and made her flight fine. Back to reality, but with new great and wonderful memories!

Wish I could be kickin' my feet up by that pool right now! Looks like you guys had a great time! I've always thought swimming with dolphins would be really neat.
