We get to bring Saphira home tonight! She will be on stall rest for the next five weeks to let her incision heal, but we can walk and graze her during that time. After that, she'll have a month of turnout in a small pen, and then she can totally resume her normal life again!!
Dr. Boutros says we are out of the woods in regard to internal infection, so her job now is just to build her weight and strength back up and finish healing. He says there is no reason in the world she can't be ridden, shown, and bred the rest of her life, which is fantastic news!!
We are so thankful for what a good job Waller Equine (www.wallerequine.com) and Dr. Boutros have done, and proud of how quickly and easily Saphira has been recovering. We can't wait to bring her home tonight! Thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers through this.
