Our good friends, Jenny Jamison (who I bought Savvy from) and Chad Gogan, showed their yearling Andalusian colt, Jicarazo VDL, at the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show (http://pinoak.org) yesterday in the Dressage Sport Horse Colt Prospect 3 and under class. He won Grand Champion!
I was impressed by his win, but even more so by his temperament at the event. This is a big horse show, and he took it all in, stood calmly, and showed in hand like a pro. Jen did a great job handling him, and the judge made a point to come up and tell her what a nice horse he was.
Mike took pictures, and I stood by and cheered. We consider ourselves sort of Jicarazo's (affectionately known as "Cupcake," because his name translated in Spanish means "little chocolate cupcake") godparents.
Jen saw a flyer for some Andalusians colts in CA for sale at the 2009 Andalusian Annual show. While there, she met up with our friends Jutta and Laurie, who happen to be great friends with the seller, Shelly, of Vista del Lago (www.vista-del-lago.com). In fact, Jutta trained and showed Cupcake's sire, Fandango D. Jutta was going out there for a clinic, so Jen told her to check out the colts available. Cupcake was Jutta's favorite, so after Jen sold her riding horse, she bought him! She and Chad picked him up over Christmas. He is just a fantastic little colt, with a very bright future!
