Horse Update

We recently moved Saphira to TP Farm (www.tpfarm.com) down the road from us, so that we could board her in a big, grassy pastures with some other mares, in a more natural herd environment. After a week there, she is thriving and already seems much happier and less anxious. Now, we are just working on put weight back on her after her December bout with colic. When I visited her the other day, some neighboring kids came by, and they were an enthralled with her as she was with them. The Irish really are "people horses," and curious by nature. I snapped these pics with my phone and had to share them. I once was that little girl, reaching her hand through the fence, with a look of wonder at the horses on the other side.In other horse news, we dropped Donnelly off at trainer Clint Kolz's place in Cat Spring for 30 days of "Kindergarten." Donnelly is roughly 17 hands and turns 3 at the end of April, so it was time for him to get a little learning under his belt. We should be able to lunge and trail ride him when he returns, but I won't start serious work on him until this time next year, as he still has much more growing to do. I'm going to miss having him around our place. He is and always will be my little baby (see newborn photo above), as we've had him since he was 6-months-old. I am excited to finally get the chance to ride him though!
