Reality Hits Close to Home

My company, Swift Energy, laid off 15% of our workforce two weeks ago. It happened very quickly one day while I was home sick with the flu. Forty employees were let go, many of them long-time Swift people, and one of them being my close buddy who worked in my group. I know that layoffs are going on all over the country, but it really hit home when it happened here at my company. Makes you stop and think, that could have been me. It is a very sad thing to experience, as there is definitely some survivor's guilt for still being here. Here's hoping the economy will turn back around ....
