Doppelgänger has come to refer to any remarkably similar double or look-alike of a person. It is German for "double walker."
I used this word a few times in conversation, and several people had never heard it before. Thus, I decided to make it the word of the day.
So, the next time you see someone's "twin," you can let them know you saw their doppelgänger instead and see if they know what it means.
